My Little Cheerleader

Dylan has become our family's little cheerleader these days. Two nights ago Cliff and I went running. As we were coming down the home stretch I started to drop off Cliff's pace and fall behind. Dylan noticed and stuck his head out from the side of his stroller and yelled "Mommy...Go!" That was all the inspiration I needed to finish strong. Last night I was playing piano. Dylan came and joined me on the bench and started playing along. Soon Cliff brought Cece over and she seemed very curious about the big noisemaker. So Cliff held her in a seated position on the piano bench. Cece reached out in front of her and touched the keys. Instead of pushing her hands away Dylan looked at her and said "There you go!" I loved how encouraging and sweet he was to her.

Time Out Mommy!

Tonight Dylan was playing on the computer when he really wasn't supposed to be. I came over to him and tried to redirect his attention to dancing with me, which he normally enjoys. Well that didn't go over as smoothly as I'd hoped. He got quite angry with me and started telling me "no". Then he began pointing his little finger at me while ranting in his gibberish. The next thing I knew he took me by the hand and led me toward the hallway. When we got to the wall he directed me to sit. Apparently mommy was on TIME OUT!!

Leaving on a Jet Plane

My parents visited this past week to celebrate La Befana. Dylan was absolutely thrilled to see his Nonni and Papa and enjoyed every moment shared with them. On Tuesday they returned home to California. When they left Cliff told Dylan that they had to get on a plane to go bye-bye. For the rest of the day every time Dylan saw a plane fly by he looked up, waved, and said "Bye-bye Nonni, bye-bye Papa".

I Didn't Do It

I have worked with kids for six years so I am well aware that it's in a child's nature to avoid blame. But wow does it start early. This morning Dylan was eating his cereal when he decided to crush it into tiny bits by driving his toy car through it. When I told him he needed to clean it up he showed me the toy car in his hand and explained in his 2 year old gibberish that the car had made the mess.

The Power of an M&M

Potty training has gotten a lot easier with my new friends M&M...Dylan went to the potty 3 times today!! He thinks he is getting a great deal...pee pee=1 M&M, poop=2 M&Ms. Seeing that this is his first taste of candy he is thrilled. Bribery most definitely works.
